Gershwin for Kids at Bickford Theatre Sat, 03/12/2011

A family friendly, interactive performance introduces children and parents to the ""fascinatin’ rhythms" of George and Ira Gershwin. The David Leonhardt Jazz Group and the Shelley Oliver Tap Ensemble unite for an educational and inspiring presentation designed to introduce younger audiences to tap dancing and jazz through the use of creative improvisation in rhythm and melody. Audience participation is encouraged through singing, clapping, scatting, and movement to structure a one-of-a-kind performance every time. Instruments are demonstrated and Gershwin’s most-popular songs are played in various styles to show how to appreciate a jazz and dance performance.
